THURSDAY AFTERNOON...
The Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of North Carolina and southwest Virginia, including the
following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Surry,
Watauga and Wilkes. In southwest Virginia, Carroll, Floyd, Grayson
and Patrick.
* From Midnight EDT tonight through Thursday afternoon
* Rain is expected to overspread the region later today and become
heavy at times tonight and Thursday. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4
inches are possible.
* Runoff from the heavy rain may cause area creeks, streams, and
rivers to flood. Roads may be closed due to flooding.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert
for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding
should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

steady temperature in the lower 60s. Light and variable winds.

then showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the
afternoon. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the morning. Very
